The new Thinkpierce “photos” tab!

This week I will let the pictures do the talking by introducing the new “photos” tab.   In addition to showcasing all of our previous photo shoots, this week also brings another to the collection.   This new photo shoot shows some of the hands on work I’ve been doing to create some of the motion graphics content that will be used for the credits of an upcoming independent film.  Next week be on the lookout for phase two of the motion graphics work update.   In the mean time, check out the new “photos” tab and relive some crazy Thinkpierce moments.  Thinkpierce, Something New every Friday!

What is Thinkpierce?

Jonathan Pierce, Creator of Thinkpierce

What is Thinkpierce? That seems to be the question that comes up when someone runs across Thinkpierce.com. Although under a different name at the time, Thinkpierce began after I graduated high school and started an “entertainment business” performing original comedy acts and music.  That first concept was a springboard to what Thinkpierce.com has developed into today.  Over the years I’ve built up a collection of original videos, music, films, art, photo shoots, short stories, etc. Creating these different types of products is something I am practically programmed to do.  With no motivation other than sheer creative instinct, I seem to be in the never-ending process of fleshing out a new idea. Once I realized there was no more denying it, I organized it all under the only name that made sense, Thinkpierce. As a result, every Friday I share a new creative work or update on the website. So if it’s Friday, you can be sure something will be ready and waiting for you at thinkpierce.com.   We’re also excited to have recently launched the Thinkpierce store where you can find original products, like art and clothing. Many more exciting products including independent films, music, and humorous books are currently in the works.

In addition, one thing I’ve realized over the years was that I wanted to live for something more than myself.  For me, that’s where my personal belief as a Christian comes in.  Through my creativity, I hope to spread the message of acceptance, humility, and a renewed mind through Jesus Christ. It’s amazing how many of the problems we have in our lives and in this world that could be instantly solved with even a few sentences of advice from the Bible.  I am greatly inspired by the stories of disciples who spent their lives traveling the earth, enduring imprisonment and torture to share a message that had the power to change a person’s life for the better. A message that reveals you can own nothing, yet have everything you need. Through Thinkpierce, I hope to share that same message in my own way. If in return, you are inspired to follow your dreams and live for more than yourself in the process then to me Thinkpierce is achieving something worthwhile.

So to you newcomers, come aboard the Thinkpierce train and strap in for a wild ride. There will always be something new to entertain you every Friday at Thinkpierce, so join our weekly e-mail list, plug into our Facebook page, then throw it in overdrive and never look back.  This is only the beginning!  Many more surprises are ahead…   Get ready to Thinkpierce!

Jonathan rolls out Thinkpierce TV!

If there were one facet of Thinkpierce that best represented who we are and what we do, it would be Thinkpierce TV.   My dad say’s it best in saying that if there was something happening in my life, I was somehow getting it on video.  As a result, I’ve built up a large collection of VHS tapes, DV tapes, hi-8 tapes, and DVD’s loaded with footage that included anything from live performances, sketch comedy, scenes of unfinished films, music, break dancing, to total randomness. In 2010, I focused on converting it all in to my computer and after countless hours of capturing and logging footage I now have it all organized in hard drives under a folder that could only be named one thing; Thinkpierce TV.

Marrying old footage with new footage, Thinkpierce TV will be organized in to numbered seasons that will each have eight episodes.  Each episode will have a story line that ultimately includes both new and previous Thinkpierce footage, creating a unique unexpected twist in each episode. Although being introduced now, Thinkpierce TV won’t kick in to full effect until the spring of 2013.  There are a variety of projects that will take priority until then including releasing three Thinkpierce films, completing a variety of books and rolling out Thinkpierce Music! However thanks to Scott Norvell, I was able to complete one episode ahead of schedule…

In this particular episode titled, “Lord of the Dream”, I made use of some footage of a crazy dream sequence I shot with Scott over 10 years ago.  Around the same time I was converting it in to my computer, Scott was going to be visiting Tulsa for Christmas.  I saw an opportunity and wasn’t about to let it go. I wrote up a script that depicted Scott as an oddball friend of mine that was having a problem slipping in to sudden deep mental trances. (In other words I lacked creativity and just wrote Scott in as himself.) Just kidding Scott! Couldn’t resist. I ran the idea by Scott and he was all in. We started shooting at 9pm on a Friday and wrapped up at 3am. With my wife Rhona as our camera operator, we couldn’t fail. Love you babe!  If you think we didn’t end it all with a meal at Village Inn, then your dead wrong. Although it will be a while before I introduce new episodes, “Lord of the Dream” is a perfect example of what you can expect from Thinkpierce TV.  Until then you can keep your eyes peeled for, well…just about anything.  Thinkpierce, something new every Friday!

Thinkpierce Music

One night I was driving on 11th street near downtown Tulsa when I passed by an awesome display of light glowing through a wall made of glass blocks.  It happened to be a Mazzio’s delivery location, but unlike any I had seen before.  You already know what was about to happen next… a Thinkpierce photo shoot.  As far as I was concerned, it was a psychedelic stage waiting for a performer.  That person happened to be me.  I was working on some new music at the time and figured this would be a great way to shoot some cool promo photos.  I had my idea, now it was time to make it happen.

A photo shoot like this wouldn’t be very exciting with just one person so I called up two friends who both played guitar and asked if they would be up for posing as Thinkpierce rockers. One was Dennis Pagano and the other was Matt Minor.  Not only have both of these guys come to my aid in multiple Thinkpierce extravaganzas, both continue to play music to this day.  Dennis is a full time drummer working in casinos, clubs, and cruise ships and Matt Minor plays guitar in the rock band, Ghosts.  Ideally I wanted drums in the set up as well, but I figured the noise might not go over with the store manager of Mazzio’s; whom I still needed to get permission from.  Luckily, it wasn’t too hard.  I walked in one night, explained my idea and he was just kind of like, “Yeah, sure, whatever. That’s cool”.

I called up Marshal Baker to head up the photography and locked it in. Around nine o’clock we all showed up with guitars, mics and amps ready to bring it.  After I let the manager know we were there, we set up shop and got ready to rock.  Marshall started snapping photos as we proceeded to act out a life changing rock show back-lit by a wall of psychedelic light.  In between shots, Marshall switched his camera to video mode (before still camera’s really were video camera’s) and grabbed some action shots of us thrashin’ it out. Although unplanned, the footage turned out to be really cool and paired up perfectly with a song I had recorded in my apartment at the time called, “Stay Alive.” Combined together with some other promo footage also shot on 11th street with Jesse Scott a few days later, it created a great promo piece for the upcoming release of Thinkpierce Music, which introduces some new songs from the past.  The video is called “Thinkpierce Music” and is viewable in our videos tab. Since this shoot, that Mazzio’s location was remodeled and although still there, the giant wall of light was reduced down to a 7 by 8 display window. A reminder that when an opportunity presents itself, don’t think it will be there forever! Had a lot of fun with this one, hope you enjoy it. Thinkpierce, something new every Friday.
